Anyone want to share their personal experience with the SIS? Was it painful? How long did it take? Am I going to be ok after?
Mine is scheduled for tomorrow morning and I'm getting a little nervous.

Re: Saline Infused Sonogram
I had mine done last month. Mine was painful but, only because of my tubes. The balloon was uncomfortable, not painful though. The whole thing took maybe 10 minutes & they had to re-do my cath because I popped it out. I would imagine it takes less than that with no issues. Most people said they only had mild discomfort, if anything. Take 6-800mg of Ibuprofen before you go. I was fine to go back to work after. I will say I had mild cramps for like 5 days after but, nothing severe.
Good luck! Oh & bring a pad with you.
I just felt very uncomfortable, cramping and such. But like said above once it is done so is the pain. (small amount of pain, nothing too crazy)

New Plan: Reciprocal IVF, me as carrier wife's eggs. Just went through insurance and received partial approval, so my part will go through my IVF benefits and wife's part will be out of pocket. Now just finalizing finance plans to cover the oop costs. Doctors office is in process of moving to a new building so there are no IVF start ups until March/April 2015.

I had mine about a month ago. I didn't think it was too bad. I had some mild cramping and spotting afterward, but it wasn't debilitating or anything.
GL!
I've had 3.
Do you know if they are passing it through your tubes, or just your uterus?
My first one (3 years ago) hurt a lot. They had to go through my tubes, I had a lot of cramping, and I was pretty sore afterwards. I had a pain in my collarbone (From the air getting trapped I guess, I don't know, they said it was normal.) for a little while immediately afterwards. Once they are done, the cramps stop. The whole thing I think was 10 minutes.
My second one was just through my uterus. (A month before my IVF - 2 years ago) They said I might have a little cramping from the catheter balloon, but I didn't feel anything. I felt really bad, because I was really worked up expecting a lot of pain but it was nothing. This one took about 5 minutes.
My third one (a couple months ago) was through my tubes again, and this time I felt nothing again. I don't know why it was different from the first time. (Maybe having a baby made it easier?)
They told me to take some tylenol about 30 minutes beforehand for the cramping. Also bring a pad with you, because you will leak all the solution out after you are done.
Good Luck!!
I just had mine a month or two ago. It wasn't bad at all. My RE said that it doesn't hurt as much if you have had a baby because of changes to the cervix. An intern actually did mine (with RE's supervision), and the catheter came out. Even with that, it was quick (maybe 5-10 minutes). I did take 600 mg Advil beforehand.
Good luck, Hen!

Lots of love and luck to my TTGP IVF Buddy Kathy4678!
I just had an hsg today and because the dye didn't go through my right tube at all, they suggested trying a saline sonogram as well.
When I asked what the saline sonogram was, she said it is basically like the hsg but with saline and done in the office as opposed to the hospital with the big machines.
The hsg was not bad at all...to me, it felt crampy like when you have to poop really bad and you have that gas pain pressure (tmi lol), but as soon as it is gone, it isn't bad. Totally tolerable and it was done in 15 minutes. I was more worried about sharp pains and I didn't experience any of that.
Good luck!

Good luck Hen!!
It wasn't painful for me at all. Maybe it is because i have been through childbirth, but honestly it was nothing. Simmilar to getting a pap smear. It took about 5 minutes. They checked out my ovaries too. They should tell you right there if everything looks okay. The fluid does leak out afterward, they should have pads for you to put on.
I did take a pain reliever beforehand as it was recommended by the Dr.
Good luck!
