Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Night one sleep training success!

So my almost 4 month old was way too big for the rock n play. He would try to flip over at night. We had to move to the crib but no matter what we did he woke when we set him down. We decided to do a modified Ferber method to get him in there and unswaddle him too so he could self soothe. When we set hjm down He played for 10 minutes before crying. He had a meltdown for 3 mins before I went in. I got him out and fed him a bit and set him down. He cried again for about 10 mins but was able to self soothe each time before I went in there. He was asleep within 25 minutes and He's been asleep for an hour and I've seen him wake and put himself back down each time. He's all spread out and looks so happy to have so much room! I don't care if he wakes a bunch tonight to eat I consider this a huge success!!!

  • Congrats!

I remember you posting before about sleep problems bc I had the same issues. We also did the sleep training and have seen great results!

Well it wasn't that great. After sleeping 4 hours at first he woke every hour. I went in once to comfort and twice to eat I don't care about sttn just wanted him in his crib. He doesn't nap much prob an hour total yesterday but used to be a great night time sleeper 6:30 to sometimes 8:00 with only one feeding. I know it will get better when he associates the crib with bed but wow this sucks. Hoping today goes better.

He did 2 naps in the crib today only lasting 45 minutes each and it took him 30 minutes to fall asleep but that's progress. He only fussed or cried and then self soothed so I never went in. Just put him in his crib for tonight so fingers crossed he is getting used to it. Makes me sad but I know for our situation it's the best thing to do.

Yes, sleep training all the way over here.  The naps are definitely tougher than the night time.  The naps will start out short but once they get the hang of it they should lengthen.  The bedtime routine is pretty set with bath, book and feed. But naps were just book then into bed so we added a song so there was a little more to it.

We don't schedule the naps we just based the next nap on awake times. Sometimes it's 3 naps and some days 4. There is often a very long awake time at the end of the day though.

Hope you have a good night!

That is great!  I've noticed we'll have a couple nights like that then take a small step backwards. It just takes time.
