My dad texted us today to say that he'd watch LO for a few hours today and to drop him off at 10:45am. We're not stupid. We sure took him up on that offer!
My H just picked him up and had this to report:
- Grandpa could tell that LO was hungry, but didn't know how much powder to put in the bottle. (It's pre-measured and in a dispenser.) So LO didn't eat, but apparently was in good enough spirits to enjoy the rest of the visit.
- LO had a poopy diaper and somehow in the process of changing it, LO's left sock--and left sock only--got completely wet. ????
- We cloth diaper and Grandpa put the dirty dipe in a plastic bag instead of the wetbag that I purposely clipped to the diaper changer bag.
- Grandpa couldn't find the pacifier that I tucked into the front pocket of the diaper bag. That would be the pocket that has a picture of a pacifier on it.
This is not the first time Grandpa has watched LO, so both my H and I were pretty baffled. Apparently Grandpa has some re-learning to do! Hahahhaa!
Re: LOLz. Grandpa FAIL
That's exactly what I told my husband: He didn't call or text to ask?! We were dumbfounded. Had LO been super hungry he'd have been screaming, but apparently visiting Grandpa was enough of a distraction until he got home. The visit was only 2 hours in total, so I wasn't worried, as he'd eaten just before he left.
I was just amazed that my dad, Mr. I'm Never Wrong, Mr. I Know How to Do Everything Myself, Mr. I Own Two Businesses So I Don't Need Any Instruction, couldn't pull it together today to take care of his almost 6 month old grandson. It was as if all common sense flew out of his head. What's more puzzling is that my mom was sleeping upstairs, and he didn't think to ask her, either. O_o
As my DH suggested, the care sheet we leave for babysitters will also be placed in the diaper bag... just in case.
