Promotion!

Well, I just found out that I'm getting a promotion! No one at work knows I'm pregnant yet. And I know if I had said I was they wouldn't have chosen me for the position it is a completely chauvinistic work environment. Now what do I do?!! My plan was not to say anything really until I popped should I keep that plan?

  • Is the promotion effective immediately? Does it involve additional duties? My thought is give it a little time, prove you can do the new job well even when pregnant, and then tell them. Congratulations!

    Agree and congrats!

One thing that is stressed in business school is that your employer has little obligation to you, and I think that's very pertinent to remember in this situation. Do not tell until you are ready!

  • Congratulations!  Keep to your plan if you are concerned about their reaction.  It will give you time to get established in your new position.
