Overnight dog sitter - how much should I pay?

I am having a college-aged neighbor stay over at our house to take care of our dog while we are OOT.  She is doing this for us just one night one weekend and then for 8 nights another week.  She lives right behind us, so it is not like she has to pack up and move into our house, and she will go home to shower, eat, etc. and still go to work as normal.

How much would you pay her for (1) one night of staying over and (2) 8 nights of staying over?  We have not had to do this before.

    $30/day for a house/dog sitter to stay at the house and watch 2 dogs and 1 cat.

    ETA: That's what we paid when we used a friend.

    Maybe $20/day in your case. Or for the long stay I might come up with a set fee.

    Wow - that would be great.  That is less than we paid hen we boarded him in the past.

    From our experience, we have paid less with a dog sitter than boarding. You may want to check out rover.com and see what rates are for someone you don't know in the area and work around that? We've also found some great dog/house sitters on that site.

    I never board my St. Bernard, so I always have someone (usually college aged kids) come and watch her. I normally pay about $25/day, but the sitter is welcomed to stay and eat at our house.

    Our dog sitter stays at our house while we're gone and she charges $25 per day and we pay her for a full day, even for partial days (she arrives in the evening or leaves before noon).  It's cheaper than boarding and he gets to stay at home.  Win-win!

    We usually have H's younger cousin come stay at the house with Rocky.  She still lives at home, so she likes getting some time away from her mom.  We pay for $100/week, which is less than boarding.  It is also a lot less stressful on Rocky.

    10 years ago when I was petsitting regularly I charged minimum $25/day for overnight stay. That would include basically living at their house, walking their dogs, giving lots of attention to all the animals, giving any meds that were needed...  I was "experienced" in that I was a vet tech, had references, etc

    I would up the fee if the job required a lot of extra activities, like taking care of horses or anything that required >1 hour of work on top of the basic care of the pets.  Oh, I was asked to do all sorts of things and care for all sorts of animals.  Fun times :)
