What did we...

ever do without bounce houses?

Seriously.  We've went to 4 birthday parties since spring and all but one had some kind of bounce house.  The one that didn't had a clown, balloon maker, face painter, etc.

Is it just me or are these kid parties over the top nowadays?  Maybe I should've waited until UO to say this, because obviously it seems to be a normal thing.

Gone are the days of pin the tail on the donkey, pi?atas and the hokey pokey, eh?

I'm annoyed.

  • I for one appreciate when people do bounce house parties. My kids go to bed ridiculously early. LOL.

With that being said, my kids are going to be unpopular since well never do them. They're winter bdays so well do bowling/roller skating parties sans bounce house and clowns. Lol.

  • DS just had his birthday AT a bounce house place, is that over-the-top? I like to out-source parties, it makes clean-up so much easier.
  • Umm, I want one for my next birthday. I love those things. Granted, I've never been to a party with one. Also, DS has a December birthday, so that puts the kibosh on that.

  • I don't mind them.  Most of DS's friends have parties at a location rather than home though.  There is a new indoor trampoline park nearby that is ahhh-mazing.  I'd like to have DS's party there next year.

  • Bounce houses scare me.  My 2 younger ones are smaller than their peers, so I am scared they will get hurt.  Is that odd?

Yes. DD is much smaller {like 5-6 inches than some people} than her classmates and she's always been fine. Clowns are scary though.

  • That sounds so cool! Around here people don't rent them just for bday parties, but more for big events like neighborhood parties, elementary school fairs, Christmas events, etc. DD would love it though!

Yes, I'm not talking about having a party at a bounce house place or somewhere like that.  I'm meaning people actually buying and renting them for their house birthday parties.

DS is too small for them anyway  yet, mostly because he is one of the younger ones and would probably get trampled by bigger kids.

this. My son is pretty big for his age, but when he was almost 1.5 he was at my nieces birthday party in the bounce house with her kindie classmates and the same situation every spring for the past three years. Hs lived to tell the tale. I mean sure-kids get stepped on or bumped into, but we've never had any sort of actual injury * knock on wood*
