Preemies

Here we are

My sweet little baby James was born on Friday, May 31st at 6:22am at 26 weeks 6 days term. He is being a fighter, things have been going well so far but we are no where near out of the woods. I had had a textbook pregnancy up until Thursday night. I had cramping that wouldn't stop after four baths! I spent the time I wasn't in the tub researching Braxton hicks contractions as this has been my first pregnancy and had no expectations of premature birth. I had just had a good doctors appointment on Tuesday. At this point I miss him more than anything since he is at a NICU an hour away, I take comfort in the hands that are taking care of him but I'm obviously a little nervous and a little overwhelmed with it all. My husband has been 100% outstanding keeping information straight, informing family, taking care of me, baby as much as possible, the dogs and he's even remembering the fish!

just my first little blurb to try and get somethings straight in my head.

Re: Here we are

  • I am so sorry you are here. The NICU can be very scary. Just remeber he is in the best place! If you have any questions feel free to ask. My thoughts are with you and LO!

  • Angie... Congratulations on the birth of your little one. My story is VERY similar. I had my twins at 25 weeks on May 2nd after a very normal Tuesday appointment then that Thursday I went in for their regular ultrasound to check fluid. I was sent to the hospital for observation and about 2 hours later, my water broke and about and hour and a half later, they came! I'm sorry you're here but there are a lot of very helpful women here! I'm about 4.5 weeks into this crazy journey, but I am here to talk if you need to talk to someone going through it now.

Congratulations on the birth of your LO!  I'm sorry that he is so far away, but hang in there.  My daughter was born 26w2d and spent 83 days in the NICU.  It's important to try to take it one day at a time.  I'm so glad to hear that your DH is being so supportive.  We're here if you have any questions of if you want to vent.  I hope that your LO has an uneventful NICU stay.  Keep us posted when you can.
