So our LO is 2 months and we don't have a stroller yet, I've just been wearing him...but I'm starting to feel like I want a stroller.
I'm pretty positive we are going to get a jogging stroller - we are sort of out in the country and go for lots of walks on dirt paths etc., plus I will use it for jogging when he is older.
My question is - I know I can't start jogging with him until he's 8 months or so, but can I use a jogging stroller now just as a regular stroller? Will it recline back far enough for a 2 month old? We have a small apartment and I want to try to get by with one stroller if possible, at least for now.
Re: Question about jogging strollers
It depends on the brand, most don't recline flat enough on purpose because they're not meant for babies that age. At 3-4 months I might be more comfortable with it on recline for walks. Maybe use a snuzzler or something similar.
I have a Chariot that has an infant sling that we used for the girls until about 8 months. It's pricy for some though.
Our BOB Revolution used to recommend 12-16? weeks before putting them directly in the stroller, but I see that they now have a nice description on their site. Basically you want the baby to have good neck and back control before they sit directly in a stroller that doesn't recline flat:
From BOB site https://www.bobgear.com/support/warranty-return-policy
BOB recommends that your child should be at least 8 weeks old before riding in a BOB stroller without a BOB Infant Car Seat Adapter and compatible infant car seat. Please note that babies incapable of holding their head up must have additional head and neck support to ride safely and comfortably. For jogging or off-road stroller use, children should be at least 8 months old.
With the addition of the BOB Infant Car Seat Adapter and compatible infant car seat, newborns may be able to ride in the stroller. Children develop at different rates. Prior to first use, consult with your pediatrician regarding suitability of stroller use with your child.
The Bob only reclines to 70 degrees the new Baby Jogger summit x3 reclines to almost flat and is slightly narrower than the Bob making it easier to use as a regular stroller. Check it out here this article gives a great comparison of the two.
