Fighting Sleep

Hi! I haven't posted in months, but was wondering if anyone has any advice... My DD is 5 and a half months and is a terrible napper. The first few months were fine. When she seemed drowsy, I would out her in her crib/bassinet and she was fine. The nap lengths were inconsistent, but when she was tired, she would sleep. I'm a teacher and since I've been on summer break, she has been fighting sleep. She is clearly tired, but only wants to nap when held not a habit I want to start. Now she screams when I place her in her crib to nap. I've resorted to trying the swing which worked when she was tiny, pack'n'play, etc.... and she won't have any of it. Is CIO appropriate for nap times? Any suggestions?

Re: Fighting Sleep

  • DD was going down drowsy prior to the 4 month wakeful. Since a recent fussy spell I've gone back to putting her down asleep and she's back to 3 naps and sleeping well at night (10h, wakes once to nurse). I'm using No Cry Nap Solution. There's a section on transitioning from being held. My LO needed to be held, now she can be put down in the swing (off). We had started crib naps before her sleep regression, and now we just started the transition all over again. She does still put herself back to sleep though, and usually naps for 2h each, so for me its worth the extra hassle of gradual transitioning.
