things move a little easier?
Quick background: Our LO has been DX'd as SGA (small for gestational age/IUGR) and assuming we keep passing our BPPs and show consistant growth on our other u/s, we'll be welcoming baby early. My OB has told me if things still look good, we could push a little closer to 38 weeks.
Ideally of course, I'd like to avoid Pitocin, but was told there isn't really another option to really induce labor. I did ask about Cervidil to at least help ripen things to get them ready and that is something we'll talk about as we get closer.
I've been drinking red raspberry leaf tea, I'm going to start eating dates. I was going to start Evening Primrose Oil also.
Is there anything else I can do to get my body as ready as it can be to "force baby out?"
Re: Early Induction (38 wks)--what can I do to help
I was late, and my OB knew I didn't want pitocin, and gave me a few other options:
1) Nipple stimulation. Your husband can do this at home, but the most effective route is with a pump. OB's usually want to supervise if you use a pump, because it can actually be as effective as pitocin.
2) Strip your membranes - your OB needs to do this.
3) Acupuncture - there aren't any good studies to back it up, but it can't hurt as long as you use a reputable acupuncturist who works with fertility and pregnancy. You may need to go more than once, so I would start trying a couple days before your OB's deadline.
4) If you are already dilated (I was 3 cms by 38 weeks, so it could happen) you could have them break your water. My OB preferred this to pitocin, because it didn't require an IV or continuous fetal monitoring, so I could still move around.
GL! Hope baby keeps growing well and you make it to 38 weeks!

Also you could ask your doctor about a foley bulb induction to get things started:
https://pregnancy.about.com/od/induction/f/foleycatheter.htm
Before resorting to pitocin, I would:
1. take EPO for a couple weeks leading
2. Take the labor prep herbs I took last time (Dr. Christopher's Birth Prep, start earlier than they say since you are cutting 2 weeks off)
3. Ensure good pelvic alignment through chiropractic
4. Ensure good baby position of left anterior (per spinningbabies.com)
5. Cervidil to ripen
6. Foley if not too far dilated for it to work
7. Breaking water once foley falls out if I am not having contractions
8. Trust that my body will do the rest and fight for time to labor since it didn't have a chance to start on its own, and decline vaginal exams
If I ever had to have pitocin, I would absolutely push to have it turned off once I was contracting on my own
You could give this a shot.

Definitely ask about breaking your water first. the only problem with that is it puts you on a timeline and you might end up with a C-section, but that will be up to the doc on call.
I can't believe you're getting so close!!
