Father's Day ideas

My boyfriend and I will be having a baby in February, I have a son from a previous relationship. Since he's going to be a daddy soon I'm trying to find the perfect Father's Day gift. I've been a single mom for so long I don't know what to get him. He's amazing and loves my little guy like he's his. Does anyone have ideas? Thank you

Re: Father's Day ideas

  • I find it odd that you're 5 minutes pregnant and your first post is on the blended family board instead of the February 2014 board... Hopefully I'm over thinking things and you're a normal person and not a drama llama.

But my DH is another daddy to my DS(4.5) from a previous relationship, and we also have a 5 mo DD together. But for Father's Day I'm getting him:
-Club seats to a baseball game of our home team vs. our 2nd favorite team
-A bundle of meats from Omaha Steaks
-A carrier for all his CDs he has in the car
    -A Keurig accessory
All those things are based around his personality and things he likes. I would just think about things your BF likes and go from there.

  • I am a mother and I actually love the hallmark holidays.  But given that you are only 5 weeks pregnant AND you are not married, I would downplay this year's fathers day.

I would have your son make him something simple (pinterest has tons of father's day ideas) when you help him make something for his biofather.

Then, I would get a fathers day card that talks about the joys of fatherhood and sign it from your peanut.

Then on Fathers Day, make him breakfast in bed, give him his gift and card and be done with it.

  • I agree w/ Illumine.

If you go small this year, you can think bigger in subsequent years.

But really, I try to use Father's Day to celebrate the father that MH is to my kids. Let's see.. usually the kids make him something, we get him cards, I make his favorite breakfast. Then we do lunch with my parents and spend the afternoon doing Man things.

We tend to get each other small gifts (like <$20) for Mother's/Father's day. This year he got me a coffee mug I wanted.

  • I'm due in August. If DH didn't already have a daughter we wouldn't be celebrating Father's Day at all we didn't celebrate Mother's Day for me this year. I'd suggest just helping your son make something for him and then buying a card or something from you.
