I was induced last time. I had sever hypertension that got up to 155/105, and since I was 39 weeks my doctor felt safer inducing me. I went in on a Thursday at 5pm. They inserted Cervidil at 8:30 I was supposed to have it for 10 hours, but wasn't allowed to move until 10:30. My water broke on its own at 10pm (the nurse told me that wasn't supposed to happen because of the cervidil).
Started Pitocin at 6am Friday morning and had him at 4:59 pm Friday after 20 minutes of pushing. I did opt for the epidural, because the pitocin contractions sucked.
Really inductions can work out beautifully. They aren't all the horror stories you can hear of.
I will be induced between 37-38 weeks because our little peanut is SGA. I'm trying to decide what I want my OB to do and what I'll do.
Things I'm considering doing to get things moving:
-getting my membranes swept
-using the breast pump
-asking about a dose of Cervidil
-EPO

I went into labor naturally with my first pregnancy, but when I went to the hospital they sent me home because I was only 1 cm dilated. I labored at home for awhile (5 or 6 hours) until my water broke. I still hadn't dilated any further, so they gave me another hour, and when I hadn't made any more progress I was induced.
First I got an epidural, then they set me up with Pitocin. It made my contractions more regular and I progressed well after that. I labored for another five or six hours until I felt the baby engage, and an hour after that I was ready to push, which lasted for another hour. Although it wasn't what I'd originally wanted (a med-free birth), it was a very positive experience.
My water broke at 8pm on a Thursday night. I didn't feel I was having contractions so I stayed home and waited the 24 hours to go into the hospital. They induced me on Friday around 8pm and I gave birth DS 4am on Saturday morning. I don't have another pregnancy to compare it to but I have HEARD your contractions can be alot different, as in more intense. I gave birth naturally, without drugs or anything as well. My experience wasn't negative, but I obviously didn't feel like I was floating on clouds and it was glorious.. Your giving birth lol.
With my son, I was induced at 38w2d due to complications with GD. Cervadil was I served at 8pm, with plans to start pitocin 12 hours later. Fortunately I didn't need the pitocin, as the Cervadil put me into labor.
I agree with Prim though....please drop the text speak.
Water broke at 38 weeks. No contractions started. After doing everything in the book to get them to start... Nothing. Doc was awesome and only asked I come in after 36 hours after the water broke. At that point I was still only 1cm:. He gave me low level IV of pitocin, and I had my son 15 hours later. Was able to go pain med free through it all. It also was a vbac. So all in all it went well.
I hope all goes natural for me this time, I'd love to feel the difference between pitocin contractions and natural ones.
I was induced a little over 40 weeks. My contractions were very close together, but I was only a centimeter dilated. They decided to go with it. My son is happy and healthy. We did go into distress briefly and they had to give me oxygen and a shot to stop the pitocin. We were fine after that.
Lurker here.
I was induced at 37 weeks. I went to the hospital at 6pm, started cervidal at 7. Had a lot of cramping but no real contractions all night. Started pit. at probably 6am. Nothing. Had my water broken around 8. Started some great contractions. Got an epi around 10:3011 bc it was intense and I was only 4cm. Fully dialiated at 145 pushed for a hour and a half and baby was born at 315pm.
All and all it was a good experience. Once i got an epi i was able to nap which was wonderful bc i.was up all night.
Hope you don't mind me posting, i just remember how scared i was to go into an induction!

I was induced at 39 weeks with cervidil due to pre-existing hypertension. I went from zero dilation to 4 cm in 8 hours, then then stalled out completely for over 24 hours. About 1.5 days into it, my doctor started pitocin, which sped things up, and I got to 7 cm, when I decided to get my epidural. After the epidural which DID NOT WORK, my water was broken. As soon as my water was broken, things flew! I went straight to 10 cm and was able to push. I pushed for just under an hour, and my beautiful daughter was born at 12: 51 am! She was 7 lbs 15 oz and 22 inches long and had a full head of hair! The whole ordeal took 53 hours! A long haul, but completely worth every second!
One thing I wish I would have known prior to being induced is that becuase i was induced due to hypertension, I was not allowed out of bed more than 10 minutes every 4 hours, I was required to be hooked to monitors for the rest of the time.
Also, I went into panic mode as soon as I realized that my epidural didn't work.... BUT it was completely doable (not enjoyable, but doable) This time I am hoping to not cave and go without it!

Best of luck with your induction!!
I'm just curious, why do they induce you if your baby is small?
