Cost of Baby Gap clothes

I love Baby Gap for my DS. I think the clothing holds up well. We were fortunate enough to get some great hand me downs from this brand and I try to shop their sale racks. When I go consignment shopping I end up paying $5 for a Tshirt/long sleeved shirt. I am guessing this is reasonable considering the brand. Just out of curiosity, does anyone get their stuff cheaper than that on sale at the store, etc.? I am trying to be practical and make sure I am not spending too much in the big picture. TIA

Re: Cost of Baby Gap clothes

  • I buy most of DD's clothes from Baby Gap and have gotten shirts for $5 or so brand new. I think they have good prices, anywhere from $4-5 to maybe $10 for clothing on clearance/sales. Have you tried The Children's Place? I love their clothes too and have gotten pants for LO for around $2. Check out the clearance racks at BRU too. Koala Baby brand stuff goes on clearance for around the same price and is good quality.

  • Most of my son's wardrobe is Baby Gap. I always get it on sale (30 or 40% off) but it can still be spendy. I don't try too hard, though, I have absolutely no patience for clearance racks or consignment stores.

$5 gap shirts brand new??? Wow! I havent seen that. Yes, I do shop around. I like some Koala baby but at our BRU most of the clearance is usually really picked through. We do Children's Place and I do like their stuff. I do find deals here and there was just more curious on the Gap stuff since I like it so much.

  • Watch the sales, and store to store the prices can vary. DS has lots from there, and I hit t right last year and got zip u fleece hoodies for $1.98 at a particular store trying to get rid of them.

I was just there yesterday. The store near me is has a lot of long sleeves on clearance for $3 and winter accessories for $2 or less. I know that usually in June or July they start bringing out a lot of leftover winter stuff and you can get great deals even coats for $10. It does depend on the store. I would start going weekly now if possible to scope out the deals and of course the jackpot is when they have the clearance with and additional 40%. Be nice to the salespeople and ask, sometimes they will tell you when they are going to be bringing the stuff in the back our for further clearance.

I think $5 per shirt is very reasonable and I'm pretty frugal, though, I don't think I'd ever be able to pay so much for a shirt when it's been used.  I know that sounds bratty, but if I'm paying $5 per shirt used, I am just going to keep going to the stores and checking the clearance racks and buying things with coupons and what not to get it as low as possible instead.

I know what you mean by liking baby gap clothes, though.  I totally agree that they hold up well, are well made, and use great fabrics.

  • I think the only place you're going to find them cheaper are at garage sales. You might occasionally stumble across something on the sales rack marked down to a few dollars, but not consistently enough to count on, IME.

In my area, consignment stores buy that kind of stuff for like $1-2 a piece (most often $1) and then sell for $5-8 depending on the item (shirt, pants, dress, etc.).

I have a ton of Baby Gap clothes from my two girls and I agree that it holds up well.
