Zofran?

I was given a prescription for some zofran, because of the all day sickness, and because I have a complete lack of appetite because of it.  I was just curious how it works? and if it makes you sick when you take it?  Does it take away the nausea?  TIA

Re: Zofran?

  • For me, it kept me from throwing up but I still had light nausea and it triggered really bad migraines. I actually quit taking it recently because the migraines it gave me made me really nauseous anyway, so instead of being just sick to my stomach - I'd be sick to my stomach and have a nasty headache. But I haven't seen too many people with that problem, for most its been a lifesaver!

  • I haven't taken it, but a girl I work with swore by it from weeks 6-11.  She was taking it 3x/day because she was so sick!
  • I took Zofran when I was pregnant with #1. I swear it was a God send. It kept me from throwing up all the time. I was still nauseous, but at least I wasn't puking. I never got headaches from it either.
  • I've been on it since week 7...wouldn't be able to get through a day without it.  It doesn't stop my nausea, but lets me be able to drink and eat and keep it down...
  • was on it with dd:) it allowed me to function again, before I was in bed all the time
  • I think I just responded to another one of your posts.  I was also prescribed Zofran and it gave me horrible headaches.  When I called the doctor and asked if there was anything else I could take, they asked me lots of questions and we determined the problem was the time of day I was taking the prenatals.  Some women can't handle all of the iron in the prenatals, so they become sick (that's what happened to me and sounds like the same for you).  Anyway, before you take any more Zofran, try taking your prenatals at night for a week and see if your appetite and vomitting improve.  Good luck!  I feel for you because I was right where you are a month ago.
  • I got a prescription for Zofran from the ER tuesday when I went in because I couldn't keep anything down and was dehydrated. It doesn't cause headaches for me. Its amazing. I don't think I could go through another day of work without it. I still have nausea every time I have to clean up poop though. Trust me, if you think baby poo is stinky, try cleaning up adult poo while pregnant!
