Baby can roll from back to belly already?!

Sooo DH put Charlotte down on an ottoman, so a somewhat soft surface on her back and walked away.  I was watching her and said I think she's going to roll on her side, and he said he thought she wouldn't be able to do it yet.  Well, she rolled on her side, so I went over to make sure she didn't keep rolling off of the ottoman and then after a bit rolled onto her belly!

I thought it took babies longer to turn like that -- girl is only 4 days old!  Just felt like sharing because I was so surprised!

And a pic for your pleasure! or mine haha

One of my friend's newborn spontaneously rolled very early. I don't think he could do it whenever he wanted, it was more an uncontrolled thrust but I was impressed.

Probably what this was! I'm sure she had no idea what she was doing!

  • DD would do that when she was a newborn but she didnt have any control over it. Once she was a little older she stopped doing the accidental rolls and learned how to actually roll to get what she wanted

Such a cute picture! I have heard of babies managing spontaneous rolls early on too -- pretty crazy! Better not leave her on anything high up! :)

Such a sweet little picture. I went to a breast feeding class today, and the instructor said babies are born with the ability to partially roll and crawl in their first couple weeks to find food. I never knew this!! Your little lady proved her right!!
  • Colt does it too. I put him on his back in the crib and he rolls sideways. But I agree, I think he just squirms enough that he accidentally does it.

  • My son rolled over after a few weeks any by 2 months he was rolling over in both directions on his own! It made for a very nervous mom during the night and I would always roll him back to his back.

  • Emmett rolls to his side sometimes. Freaked me out the first time. But it wasn't at 4 days!
  • Wow that's great!

  • I believe it. My little girl can lift up her head and she's only 4 days old as well.
