I like it. My grandmother's sister is Ada. She's about 80 years old and their parents are from Italy. I've never heard the name in real life except for her.
I tend to like shorter names for girls but just not loving Ada... I know how its pronounced but still stumble a bit when I see it Ah-da, Aide-A etc.. but then again I do same thing every time I see Eva!
Love love love Ada. I think it would be in my top 5 if my cousin hadn't named his daughter Ada. I also really like it as a NN for Adelaide, which I adore.
I really like this name! It was one of our top names for DD. We had some of our friends/family take a name survey before we picked one and it did not fair well at all. I was disappointed, and just couldn't get over the fact that our family/friends didn't like it at all.
How would you pronounce it?
If I saw it, I would think a long A as in Ava. However, I met a kid at the bookstore whose parent or guardian was calling her Adda. I didn't like that name at all. It didn't help that the kid was kind of a hellion, hitting other kids. At the time I assumed that her name was short for Adalyn or something, but now I'm wondering if it was a different pronunciation of this name.

I love it! Dh wasn't on board and we had a boy anyhow, so we gave that name to our Newfie. It's so pretty:)
