Glad that she is alright. I couldnt believe the quote NPR had from a mayor or council member (think it was the other week, just after the massive Moore tornado) about how they considered requiring all new (or maybe rebuilt) homes to have storm shelters (or maybe it was safe rooms) but their council decided it would be too expensive. Coming from EQ country where new buildings need to meet the new and ever increasing earthquake (and sometimes wildfire) standards, I was surprised that they'd take that stance ... granted, I don't know how much additional they would cost. Was also surprised to hear that basements were not standard.
She is okay. Her husband's brother finally got ahold of her late last night and she is okay. I'm not sure why it took so long or what was going on, but it looks like one of the tornados past just north of her and the other just south, so they got very lucky! I'm originally from Michigan and have only been in OK for about 4 years now, so this stuff is crazy to me. We got tornados in MI on occassion but nothing like this and basements are WAY more common up there. We are now scheduled to get a storm shelter at least on July 3rd...
I'm in MI and the thought of not having a basement, or a shelter, is mind boggling. I'm terrified of severe storms and could never live in a house without one. Our family in OK, Norman and Moore, are just now thinking about maybe getting one. MAYBE?! Sheesh.
Glad everyone is ok on your end.

Edit: did you get word?
