Baby Names

I need honest opinions, and I know you guys are good for it!

Here's my dilemma: we are team green, and have decided on Samuel Bernard for our boy name. As far as girls names, I LOVE Lila mn Beth but our last name is Alano. Does Lila Alano have too many L sounds to use seriously? It's my only concern, and a friend snickered when she heard it the other day. I'm just curious as to what strangers think. Thanks in advance!

  • Yes, it has a lot of "l" sounds, but I really don't mind it. It actually kind of sounds like you are saying something in Hawaiian. Plus, she will probably marry and lose the last name anyway.

  • I think it sounds just fine. Not a tongue twister or anything.

  • To be honest Lila Alano is a little awkward on my tongue. It kind of mashes all together.

  • I think the end A and beginning A are more of an issue than the Ls, but I still think it's ok.

This. It's okay but turns into one long name for me.

I agree. How about Beth as the FN?

  • It runs together, but if you love it, go for it. Two reasons: 1) it may not be her last name forever, and 2) how often do people really say their first and last name together at once? I know I don't. Usually if you're talking on the phone (calling the bank, for example), you're saying/spelling your last name, then say/spell the first, etc.

  • Thanks ladies! I think I'll just have to enunciate and pause between first and last and it won't be an issue. I appreciate your feed back!

  • Yes. Too many L sounds. Can you do Beth Lila Alano?

I think it would be hard for people to understand what her name is when she introduces herself/you introduce her. That being said, if you love it - go for it. Like you mentioned, just make sure you pause and annunciate.
