Off routine

We had a going away dinner for a friend tonight son DS went I MIL & FIL's house from 5:30 to 9:00pm. I didn't want to be out that late but DH insisted we hang out and talk. When we arrived DS was wide awake...no going down he usually goes to bed at 7pm. So we got home at 9:40pm....gave DS a 4oz bottle and put him to bed (only night 5 in his crib). He woke up at 10:55pm screaming...I'm sure he is over tired. I pray he stays down now...poor guy needs his sleep.

I guess the point to this post is...I love an adult night out....but it's not worth the havoc it brings upon the night. Fingers crossed he is out!

Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

Couldn't agree with you more. You end up regretting it when you get home.

This completely!  It is so hard to have adult time.  If our ILs would watch LO at our house things would be easier.

After he went down the second time he STTN so it wasn't too bad...I had hoped he would sleep in but he didn't. He was up at 5:45am...which anytime between 5:30 and 6:30am is normal for him.

I hate being the party pooper and saying we can't do things but it's just too much work. I wish the IL's would have watched him but they are getting ready to take a long weekend out of town and had laundry and packing to do while they watched him. Usually my Mom watches him at my house if it's an evening deal. We have a wedding next Saturday and she will watch him over at our house...so that will be much better.

  • Jumping out of lurkdom to give a big AMEN to this post! I'm normally much more of a social butterfly than DH and I love family events, but I'm at the point where I don't want to leave our place AT ALL until LOs straighten out their sleep patterns. They simply do not nap well at anyone else's house, so after a couple visiting days to grandmas' houses, even if we don't stay late, they are a total mess for days afterwards.....and, hence, so am I....:-/

  • We do this once a week almost.  It's stressful, but it's also stressful for us to be stuck home every evening.

This gets better once they get older!

  • Amen to this. I've done dinners out on maybe 2-3 occasions, and each time, we get home at like 10PM, I still have to pump, etc etc -- and by the time we get to bed -- I've already lost out on nearly 3 hours of sleep. So, I'm lucky if I net out with 4 hours when all is said and done. Thankfully, my parents are the only ones we'll let watch the girls for the bedtime routine at this point -- and they do a great job keeping the girls on it -- but, I don't get enough sleep as it is. I'll skip the dinners out for now, thank you.

  • I'm really dreading leaving DD with my mom for a night while I go to the bachelorette party because she doesn't believe in a early bedtime. No one in my family or DH's family thinks a baby should be in bed before 9pm and they don't need a routine. They don't understand that it works for her and she STTN. It's like they purposely make us go off track. Same with naps, according to them babies don't need naps. I know I'm going to regret this, but I know I need a night out. My first time away from DD
