Belly rubs

What are you guys using to rub on your bellys for stretch marks and such, if anything?? And also, did it work in the past? Do you like the results? Smells, textures, and other likes/dislikes of belly lotion!!

disclaimer!! I have heard people say you're going to either get stretch marks or you're not and there's nothing you can do about it and maybe it's true, I don't know. And I don't really care because I'm a lotioney person and as my belly gets bigger I will love to rub stuff on it so please save that kind of comment for another thread, thanks

I'm using palmers cocoa butter tummy butter. Only used it a couple times. It's very thick and waxy and doesn't absorb very well. It has a mild scent. I think I'll keep using it but add another one into the mix since as I get bigger and it gets hotter, the waxy texture will not be good in the daytime. I like that it has vitamin e and collagen and elastin in it...I don't know if most of the other do.

Re: Belly rubs

  • I started using tummy butter the day I found out I was pregnant with my first. I didn't get a single stretch mark. I am now using the same thing with this pregnancy. Hoping for the same results!

I have been using Vaseline intensive care coco butter gel oil. It stays moist all day on my belly.

  • I used palmers for my 1st and got stretch marks and the same for my 2nd and had worse ones. Hopefully with this 3rd they don't get even worse. It also has a lot to do with genetics. I love lotions too so I'm constantly rubbing them in!
  • I never used anything with DS, and I was lucky enough not get get stretch marks.  My mother didn't get stretch marks with me or my brother either.  I'm hoping I won't get any this time around too.  I think a lot of its genetic,  but lotion certainly can't hurt.  Coconut oil is amazing when I do want a moisturizer.

  • I used nothing last time and got no stretch marks.  Stretch marks are mostly related to genetics and weight gain.

I used Bio Oil with my first and didnt get one single stretch mark! I think the real trick is starting early and putting it everywhere! Boobs, love handles, full belly and inner and outer thighs. Everything moves and shifts a little with pregnancy and this will cover all your bases. I am using bio oil again this pregnancy. Why test what has previously worked, was my logic.

  • Well, even if you don't want to hear it, you're wasting your money buying things specifically for stretch marks. If you want to rub lotion, just use whatever lotion you have.
  • I used a mixture of plane old cocoa butter and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It worked great and I only have three little stretch marks on my side because I didn't think to put it there. Make sure you do your belly sides and boobs!
  • It is genetic so if your mother sisters your mother mother had stretch marks then you will get them if they didn't chances are you won't the lotions is good to keep your skin hydrated but it will not prevent the stretch marks
  • I used Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter with my first and got no stretch marks. Doing the same this time, and fingers crossed for the same result.

    But, yeah, it's largely genetic.

  • Got an oil from Whole Foods...they only havea few options. The bottle is yellow and called Mother's something...sorry, not at home and cant remember the name. It smells nice and doesnt stick.
  • Genetics isn't always the case.... My mom and sister got them, I however did not.
