Best places to register?

We're about to start registering! I was planning to go to Target or Babies R' Us. Babies R' Us seems to have more selection, but I know a lot of my family/friends don't have one anywhere near where they live. Did anyone register only at Target? Did you feel they had enough selection? Or any other store suggestions? :)

Re: Best places to register?

  • Target is always a good place to register at. They have a pretty good selection and the majority of people I have know have registered there as well.

  • I'm not a huge fan of BRU as they inflate their prices. I went there one day and bought stuff then headed to target and the difference was huge.

Target sends you a 10% coupon to use once your near or past your due date.

I like diapers.com because they offer free shipping on orders over $35 and have some good deals for new customers (10% off or something like that, it changes) and they have a rewards program to, but some of their prices are a little inflated as well. But they ship everything in about 2 days which is convenient.

I think BRU and BBB are priced kinda high, and both stores in my area haven't had sh!t for variety. A few of this, a few of that. But that's just in the couple stores I've been to in my particular area. We are registering at Target and Walmart- figured they're scattered all over and priced fairly decent. Some people also register on Amazon for ever wider variety/prices, but not everyone (particularly the "older crowd") likes to shop online.
  • That helps a lot! Sounds like Target is a good choice for us then. Thanks everyone!
  • we've checked out the options both at Target & Babies R Us.  I wasn't planning to register at BRU initially, but they just have WAY more options when it comes to the bigger items - stroller, bedding, pack & play, carseats, etc, so we will likely register there just for a few big items & anything else that we can't find at Target, but Target will be the "main" registry.  Personally I have HATED shopping at BRU for registries when it comes to smaller things, because they're so d*** difficult to find (it's a BIG store), lol, so I think sticking w/ just a few items there will be better.
  • I  suggest to register at both. If you have a super Target near you they have a decent selection and likely bigger than a regular Target. Babies R Us has way more obviously.

You can always add stuff online or start it online. Just make sure that the some of items you select are  available in store and online - their websites always tells you this.

  • We did both BRU and target. That way people had a choice of where they wanted to go. Plus if they don't have them where they live, try can go online and look up your registries, and order from there.

  • I'm only registered on Amazon.  You can have non-Amazon items on it too (which I do).  This was mostly due to ease since I'm on bed rest and can do it all lying down :)

I'm not doing a registry but I've heard Target's return policy/customer service is horrible and my friends who have had baby registries have had great success with Pottery Barn, BRU, BBB, and the best was Amazon.  Just a heads up. ;)

  • We did one at BRU and one online through BabyList. Some people may not be as internet savvy, so we wanted to do one in-store, but I'm really hoping people use the BabyList one as I have almost all of my cloth diapers on that list.

I've also heard that Target is not good when it comes to returns, so hopefully you get gift receipts!

  • My DH and I registered at Target. They had everything we needed from a bassinet to a breast pump.

It might depend on how big the Target is near you though.

  • We are going to register tomorrow at BBB for the people in our families, etc. that I know will appreciate being able to buy at an actual store. The rest will go on our Amazon registry for the family that lives out of town or not near a store, and we have lots of tech savvy friends who will order online regardless probably.
  • I'm doing Target, BBB and amazon.com

3 may seem extreme to some people but I think it will meet the needs of the different types of shoppers that will be invited to my shower.
