Me too! Until I got pregnant I didn't realize that a lot of people have really strange attitudes towards breastfeeding.

I know! Me too!! I'm actually nervous to NIP now. I had never given it a second thought before.

    Neither did I.

It's really odd to me especially when people view it as sexual, or state that as the reason they never breastfed. I just never thought of it that way, and didn't think anyone else did either.

I agree! Thanks for posting the article. I hate that people REALLY think they can compare it to peeing or masturbating.

I agree. I think that comparison is really really messed up.

    YesYes to that article.

  • Interesting article, but for me personally, I'd rather go to the car or to a restroom rather than breastfeed in public. I'm pro breastfeeding, but quite honestly, I don't really want it in my face. I have had a gal I know whip out a boob at a church league basketball game with two minutes left in the game and not use a hooter hider or anything. It was uncomfortable for me and those around us. I respect those feelings and will find a private spot if I need to feed my kid in public. To each his own, I suppose!
  • I always thought I would use a cover, but once you have a baby and have about 10 doctors looking at your girlie part you kind of loss the discretion. It's just a boob, if you don't like it don't look.

It's one thing for you to want to cover up or go to the restroom because it makes you more comfortable, but judging another woman who was just feeding her baby baffles me.She wasn't trying to get 'in your face' and make you uncomfortable she was feeding her baby.

Not all woman feel comfortable feeding their baby where people poop, and not all babies like a cover over their head when they are eating. I don't think negative feelings towards breastfeeding are justified and expecting a woman to cover up and hide to feed her baby makes it seem like she is doing something shameful.

Having a personal preference about where YOU will nurse is great, but getting all upset about where someone else chooses to nurse is your fault, not hers. I highly doubt she was actually in your face. I'm guessing she was at least 5 feet away and you got all weird about it for no reason.
