Waking up in the night

The last three or four nights Ive been waking up randomly in the middle of the night. I've never had a problem sleeping before an now I'm afraid this is going to be an every night thing. I'm not waking up because Im uncomfortable though, it's more like I just feel awake all of a sudden. Except that Im still tired. Make sense? Anyone else dealing with this?

Re: Waking up in the night

  • This started happening to me in the first trimester, sometimes I think it's because I really have to pee but other times I just wake up for no reason.

It feels like the same time every night, but I never look at the clock. My guess is sometime around 2.
  • The past couple of weeks I've had that. It's not even that I need to pee, I just wake up.

This is me, every night. I have no advice. I usually get up after a while, tool around online, eat some cereal at 3am, etc.

It happened to me when I wa pregnant with DD, it hasn't yet this time. I've heard that your hormones surge in the middle of the night. At the very end of my pregnancy I would wake up dropping wet or leaking colostrum. Once DD was born I was obviously up to feed her, but there's definitely a surge late night or early morning. Fun stuff!

  • with me it happens, because I get up to pee around 2am then never  can get back to sleep. Its hard to fall asleep on my side, im a back sleeper so I am uncomfortable. Plus the baby is so active in the middle of the night with strong kicks.

  • Are you still sleeping on your back?   My friend (also pregnant) bolts upright in the middle of the night if she ends up rolling on to her back in her sleep.  I think it's her body just naturally telling her to move.

I'm not sure, I'll have to make a note of it next time it happens. That makes sense though.
  • Happens to me at least 4 nights out of the week and I hate it. I am exhausted the next day usually. Sometimes its to go to the bathroom and other times I just wake up. I have been trying to lay there to fall back asleep but watching the clock gets boring. Time to get a new Nook book I guess!

I feel your pain. It usually takes me 1.5 to 2 hours to get back to sleep... so annoying.
