Acupunture

I started seeing an acupuncturist this week and was just curious why type of acupuncture everyone was getting.  They guy I started going to is also a chiropractor and wants to adjust my back. (I'm not sure if I'll do this because I don't want it to harm anything the RE is doing)

He is doing electro acupuncture and the 2 times I've been he's don't the following: Ankle, knee, between thumb and pointer finger and forearm.  Then has me lay on my stomach and does it all over my lower back. Each time is about 8 min.

I have my ODWU with CCRM next week and will be asking if they want a particular type of acupuncture done, but thought I would see if there is a common trend here on TB. Thanks!

Re: Acupunture

  • I have been going to a TCM practicioner since Oct. He does all over my stomach, ears and calves, Today he did my thighs for the first time but maybe that was a bonus needle because he felt bad that my IVF was cancelled. Stick out tongue

I got a groupon for another place (chiropractor) and went twice this week. She did forehead, ankle, foot, shin, between thumb and finger, middle finger and top of head.

My TCM guy specializes in IF and works with the RE clinics so I am going to stick with him but would do both if I could afford it.

  • I did acu for a long time and she always did a needle or 2 in between my thumb and forefinger, wrist, in between my eyebrows, top of my head like in my hair, and several on my stomach and ankles and leg area. And I think some on my toes and legs too. I always had to lay flat out and if I moved the one in my wrist would hurt really bad so I can't tell you how many were in my leg and ankle region because I couldn't see them. I never had any in my back. She would also do the electro on them And I LOVED it!! I just don't think it did much but relax me and it helped my sensitive stomach and GERD. It also seemed like I had more energy on the acu! It Just didnt help me with my infertility! I was on the Herbs too that she prescribed. I loved going to her! She was great! It Just seemed to cost too much for not helping the problem I wanted to fix! KNWIM?

  • I started seeing an acupuncturist my third IUI and I really liked it. He did the electro and would focus a lot of needles on my legs, feet, lower stomach, and shoulders. He also would put a little ball of incense on a few of them and light them on fire. Then he would put these heaters over my body and I would fall asleep for about 20 minutes. The only thing is that I would find myself very dehydrated afterwards.

  • I did an acupuncture session the day before and the day after my FET. The acupuncturist did points in my lower belly (palace of the child) and some calming points for nerves/emotions. I have been going to see her once a week since the transfer as well.

     I find it very relaxing!

  • I just came online to post a similar question! My RE recommended that we check it out - for both me & DH. Is insurance covering it for you?
  • ksgsmuksgsmu member

Thank you for posting this question

I am looking into Acupuncture as well... I was against it at first, but the more I looked at the stats regarding fertility treatments, I have decided to go forward with it next month. I am trying to decide between the two my RE recommends... don't really know how to compare them since I know NOTHING about it!

(also your beagle are adorable... I have on myself..he is such a handful!)
