Columbia Daycare

Hi all! LO is due in two weeks and I'm planning on going back to work when the school year starts in August. Any recommendations for daycare in Columbia? I've already seen the state website and toured La Petite and The Young School, but thought I'd see if anyone here had someone they liked.

Re: Columbia Daycare

  • Oh wow. I'm due in 3 weeks. And I had planned on staying home for awhile before going back to work. But since I was put on bed rest sooner then expected I will have to return to work sooner then plan. Anyway. I'm from the Columbia area as well. And haven't even looked at daycares yet. What were your thoughts on the two that you found ? I really need to do some searching ASAP

  • We ultimately went with an in-home provider for our infant (I'm due in July), but we did tour Celebree and thought it was a good option (it was expensive though). The problem you might encounter is waitlists. When we went to the Howard County Day Care Fair it seemed like every center had a decent sized waitlist...like, October.

  • In this area, you have to get on lists right around 16-20 weeks, especially for the good centers.  When I signed up for DD2 (and I waited till about 20 weeks since we didn't want the school to know before we told DD1) there was only 1 spot left.

We're at the Young School and absolutely love it there.  I've heard good things though about the Columbia Academy, especially for their pre-k program.  I know a few who are at Goddard too, and they like it.

    Good luck!

  • Bet Yeladim Pre-School in Columbia accepts babies. You'll have to call to see if there is a waiting list. They have a great nursery and pre-school.
