January 2013 Moms

Are we over the hump??

So we've been going through the typical bad sleeping, bad napping for about a month.  Then 2 nights ago DS went back to only one wake up and slept from 8-4, then back to sleep until 9:30.  I naturally was ecstatic to have a decent sleep.  He had pretty decent naps yesterday so I kinda thought he might not sleep too great last night.  Well boy was I wrong.  He was asleep before 8 and didn't get up until 7:30 this morning.  And since then he has had a one hour nap and is currently working on a two hour nap.  Sweet mother Mary.....what a change of pace.  Not sure if it will last but hey I will take it while I can.  I think we must now be in a state of physical growth.....all that mental development is hard on the little guy.  No real point to this, just excited!

Re: Are we over the hump??

  • Oh lucky! Congrats on the good sleep! I'm jealous of all the mamas with good night time sleepers. I haven't had more than 4 solid hours of sleep since DS was born!

My DS has STTN (6-7 hours max) twice in his whole life... and I kept waking up out of habit! My typical 'good' night is 4 hours between feedings, but I haven't seen one of those is a good long while. Last night was another up every 2 hours kind of night. DS looks like he's about to pop 4 teeth so I'm hoping he'll settle back down to sleep better soon.

Yay OP! I hope your LO is settling into a better pattern. I was one of the lucky ones and DS would only wake up once each night at around 4 weeks and then at 6 weeks he started sleeping from about 7pm to about 6am. Until we hit crib training over the holiday weekend and we went through about four days of up every two to three hours. I thought of all you ladies who have had a baby who is up like that since birth. I honestly don't know how you do it, you should get a medal! ((hugs))

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • I totally agree Jobi.  Medals! DS has never woken up more than 4 times a night since he was born so my complaints really aren't bad as even during the wakefuls he was only waking 3 times at most.  It was killing me, so I really don't know how the rest of you are even functioning.  I'm Canadian so I am still on maternityt leave.  I could not Imagine having a LO that wakes every 2-3 hours and have to go to work.  You are super women!

Oh Lord I'm so jealous!  We moved DS#2 into his own room at around 6 weeks because he was regularly giving us 6-7 hour stretches of sleep at night.  Then right around 3 months, he stopped.  Now we are lucky to get a 4 hour stretch from 8-12 and then we're up every 2-2.5 hours until 6 when he is up for the day.  I so want my little boy who actually slept at night back!

  • This gives me so much hope. I am seriously going batty with DS's sleep regression. It's absolutely draining me. :( I hope it's over soon!
