If you were to go back to Grad school...

Which program/degree would you pursue? I have a Bachelor's in Business Admin, but have been thinking about switching directions and pursuing a Master's in Occupational Therapy once DD1 is in school. I'm not sure, though.

    I have B.S. in Liberal Arts and a (lapsed) multiple subject teaching credential.  I really don't what I will do after dh finishes his degree but I am not sure if I want to continue in education. My mom has been trying to push me towards Occupational Therapy. I had considered getting a Master's in Special Ed.

    I know we are in different states but what OT programs have you looked at? I would have to do almost a year of prerequisites on top of the volunteering required before applying to any of the programs I have looked at.

    Pretty much just the UW's program since I live 20 minutes away. I would need to complete 5 prereq courses. So I could do it in 2 quarters. And then the program runs 9 quarters including Summer, so it would be just over 2 years. Quite the commitment, but it seems like a fulfilling and indemand career so it may be something I pursue once DD or both girls are in school.

  • Lol, I've been considering doing the same thing especially since both my kids have worked with an ot. Except here it would take 3-4 years. Meh.

  • I obtained the degree I wanted, J.D. If I could go back I would choose a cheaper school, as long as I would have still met DH. ;

  • Journalism. I started out as journalism in undergrad but switched to dance. It's my one 'big' regret in life. ::sigh::
  • Special Ed or Social Work. I'm not sure we will ever be ready to take on even more student loan debt, though.

  • My bachelors is in engineering, my gradutate is an MBA.  I like this combination and probably wouldn't change anything.  I would have possibly looked into getting an enginereing management graduate degree.

  • I'd go to Culinary School.

    Child psych or speech pathology.  But we're still paying off DH's master's so I don't think it'll happen.

  • My undergrad degree is in English and Film. I was working on my Ph.D. in late medieval and early modern social history when DS was born. I still have a ways to go if I wanted to finish and the universities where we currently live do not offer a history Ph.D. I might be able to come up with some sort of interdisciplinary program related to my interests, but I would probably take a variety of classes in anthropology and sociology to see if I could fit my interests into those fields. Of course it would be purely for my own enrichment since academia is not the best field to be going into now, especially liberal arts.

  • I would continue with business, so MBA. I really loved working in corporate accounting and finance, so I'll go back there when I do go back to work.

  • I have a masters but I started another masters in OT.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to pass a class and have switched to a COTA program which is a year shorter and I'm hoping will be a little easier.
  • I have my masters in landscape architecture, the only reason to go back to school at this point would be to go into academia. Or to just burn money for my own enrichment.
  • I have been thinking of going for a teaching credential when we get DH's student loans paid off, partially for the convenience of having the same schedule as the kiddos when they are in school, and since I think teaching some form of physical science would be super fun. But the nearest university to us is like 2 hours away, so it probably won't happen.
