Not a good MD appointment - NBR

Saw my PCP today to follow up on my hospitalization over the weekend and things are not looking so great with my lungs. Apparently my pneumonia was very severe and fully encompassed 3 lobes of my lungs and there is still a ton of inflammation. My asthma is totally out of control and I tolerate almost no activity. I have coughed so hard she suspects I have cracked ribs (but does not want to xray to confirm because there is no treatment) and the pain is excruciating 99% of the time and I can only use ice and Tylenol. She has upped my steroids to basically last through the rest of this pregnancy and I have to see her Monday to determine if I need to go out on disability now. I broke down in the office, I am so overwhelmed with how incapacitated I am. I can even register a third tri pregnancy complaint because of how bad my breathing is. LO is moving fine and I see the midwife tomorrow but there is no reason to believe anything is amiss with him so at least that is something.

Thanks for the support you guys have already given and I'd appreciate ongoing T&Ps.

  • I hope everything turns out ok. I understand that pain I have had lung issues with every pregnancy this one being the mildest. That feeling of not fully taking a breath and when you can the pain is bad. I hope it subsides before you go into labor

Did your breathing return to normal after you delivered? My asthma has almost never been an issue (unless I got sick) since I was 18... it was mildly problematic with my past 2 pregnancies but totally controlled with Albuterol, nothing like this.
