Parenting after a Loss

Exhausted

Jackson's lack of sleep is officially taking a toll on me. Last night wasn't so bad because he truly did fall asleep early so was ready to play around 4am. He pretty much went down around 8. But he was so tired. He doesn't sleep much when he's with MIL and he's ready for a nap at 7. He's tired and I don't want to keep him from sleeping even if it's a late nap but I need more sleep.

No real reason for this post other than me just being tired.. I wish I could call out of work and sleep a little longer

Re: Exhausted

  • :::hugs::: I'm right there with ya.

My DS doesn't nap well or sleep well for MIL either. We went to a movie last night and I instantly regretted it because it's just not worth throwing off his already shaky routine. He also won't take a bottle for her either ahhhh...

What time does your DS usually go to sleep? Mine is down around 7. Our biggest issue is not him being up and ready to play...more of him just waking frequently for comfort. He just can't handle a later bedtime and actually sleeps less when he's over tired or went down too late.

My MIL watches him when I'm at work and he's hit and miss on napping. He usually falls asleep around 7 but is up by 8 then back down by 10. He is use to waking up every 3 hours to eat but now he doesn't eat. He finished 1 bottle around 11 or 12 and then he's up at 2ish just because. I give him his paci and he usually falls back asleep. But there are nights he's up every hour! ::yawn::

I know it will get better! Eventually

  • I'm with you ladies too. DD must be going through a growth spurt again. I had four nursing sessions from the time I put her to bed to the time I had to get up. I just don't want to deal with letting her self soothe in the middle of the night because she will just cry and cry, keeping us all awake. So it's just me that is completely exhausted. I am in a horrible mood lately and feel I have nothing left to give to home and work.  Just wanna jump into a plane and go to the tropics.

Thank you for posting this, I needed to know I'm not alone! DD was up until 2am with frequent screaming fits, which is her usual colic pattern. Then she was up again at 5am to feed and play, back down at 7am, back up at 9am. That's a maximum of 5 hours of sleep for me within 24 hours. And she is NOT a day napper. I'm seriously concerned about her lack of sleep, she's not getting nearly as much as she should.

Hugs to all of the up all nighters. They will outgrow it eventually.
