Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

teething-which set has been the most difficult?

teething has been a tough time for us in general.  LO has been cutting his molars for over two months and they are still not all the way through.  Now the canine teeth are coming also and he is not sleeping well at night anymore.  I'm surprised that the canine teeth have been bothering him more than the molars did.  I'm just curious to hear from others which set of teeth seemed to be the most bothersome to LO.

  • DS was the same, his molars took a good 3 months to cut all the way, it was awful and SLOW! Cuspids were just about the same but took a little less time. He is the worst teether, I think it was a toss up which was worse

  • DD was an angel with all teething and the only ones I really remember where the two-years because she was able to tell me that her mouth hurt. For the rest of them, she was crabby for a day or two, then I would look in her mouth and she would have 2 or 3 more teeth.

DS is working on molars now and it's been bad on and off. Poor babies with their sore mouths! I look in there and everything is red and swollen.

  • The 2 year molars have been the slowest and worst for us.  2 down, 2 to go.  One has been trying to cut through for about a week with no luck.  Now that it is summer, ice cubes in those mesh bag feeders have been great!  But, DD is a trooper when it comes to teething.  Sometimes I would have no idea she was even teething and all of a sudden there would be another tooth or 2 smiling at us!
  • DS was THE WORST. Every tooth was HORRID and weeks of bad nights and long days.

DD is THE BEST. She's like a freaking angel when a tooth comes she a little clingy for a few days, just wants to be held a cuddle (oh darn ;)) still sttn, if anything she sleeps longer than her normal 12-13 hrs which is amazing and the next thing ya know she has a tooth. She cut 3 molars with out me even knowing. She currently has her front 4 top, 2 bottom and 3 molars (missing a bottom) She has been acting a little fussy again but I'm not sure if it's this last molar or if those two bottom canines are coming in....

My mom says canines (or was it cuspids?) are the worst. I have no idea.
In my experience so far it's not the tooth, it was the kid.

  • Canine teeth, definitely.  He's been teething for months...he walks around with his fingers in his mouth and drool all over his face.  We haven't hit the second set of molars yet though...

  • It's a toss-up... DS was pretty miserable when cutting his molars right at 12 months, but all four popped up pretty quickly.

He's now 18 months and has been cutting his canines FOREVER.  I cannot believe how slowly those teeth are coming in.

In general, DS has been a pretty crabby teether, but I realize now how relatively early he got them all.

  • 1 year molars. In fact, those were the only teeth that ever bothered him. I never even knew he was teething until he suddenly had a tooth, but the molars kept us up at night for MONTHS. It was horrible.

  • For us, the molars for sure. DS has all 8 front teeth (4 on top, 4 on bottom) and just recently cut 3 molars. He has one more to go that is being stupid. My poor baby even has had a bit of bruising where the tooth is going to come out.

Her right lateral incisor on the top was the absolute worst one. I didn't even notice when her molars came in.
