Cover letter Help

I am looking for a part time, simplier job, but I am not sure how to say that in a cover letter. I am just afraid that I look over qualified for most jobs that I am interested in (I have a Masters in my field) and I want to let them know that I am interested in this job, though it is below my skill level. How do I go about writing that in the cover letter? Any advice

Re: Cover letter Help

  • Thanks for the post. No advice but I am in the same boat. I want a job in my field but with less stress at least while my kids are young. I am going to keep an eye on this post

Focus on the positives in your cover letter-talk about the company, why you're excited about the opportunity, and why you'd be a great addition to their team.  You don't need to explain being overqualified in the cover letter; lots of people are still looking for jobs they may be overqualified for.  If you're asked about it in the interview or phone screen (more likely), tell them that you're interested in a PT position because of family commitments, and leave it at that.
