Starting WCM early?

Anyone starting WCM early?? And how early?

I gave DD a sip a few days ago (she is almost 11 months) just to see her reaction... she didn't have much of one, but I stopped at that. But we are going on vacation in a few weeks (she will be 2 weeks shy of 12 months) and I'm just wondering if we are out at a restaurant if I can just try giving her some. But maybe not since we need to wean her onto it? How are you weaning? I was thinking of just slowly mixing BM and WCM and changing the ratio along the way until she is on WCM 100%. But I know we will go past BFing to at least 13 months... she is sooo attached to nursing I know it will take a while to wean her. I won't mind the morning and night nursing sessions I just hope I can get her off day nursing. And we still need to night wean as well! We will work on it again - we tried a month ago and it didn't work wel. My friend's daughter is flat out refusing WCM... so I hope DD takes it well! If she likes it will be way easier to wean her!

    I started giving LO WCM at 10 months. We were BFing but because of this pregnancy I didn't have a lot left in there. So we do formula in the morning and at night and then WCM a couple times during the day. I didn't do a mixture to begin with. I just gave it to him straight. He didn't have any reactions, so it's worked really well for us. He likes it just as much as formula or BM. It's been a really easy transition. Try not to stress too much about it! Smile

    Were off completely as of three days ago. He won't drink formula anymore.

    I plan on starting the transition maybe tonight, at a little over 11 months old. 

    Are there more vitamins in formula than WCM?  That is why i don't want to transition them too early so i can make sure they get all their essential vitamins they need.

    We started mixing formula and cows milk when DS1 was about 11.5 months old. I think we'll probably do the same with DS2.

    I think I'll start trying to figure everything out once we get back from our 4th of July weekend/vacation.

    A few weeks isn't going to make much difference as far as vitamins are concerned.

    I've never understood the rush to do WCM?  We BF and it makes no sense to rush the transition if you know you'll be weaning past 12 months anyway.  My pedi advises to stay away from WCM until after 12 months, so I'm going with that advice. I don't do formula though - so maybe its the the price difference?

    I've been giving him some on and off for a few weeks.  Last night I gave 1-2 ozs in the sippy cup during dinner and he drank it all down!
