I gained WHAT!!!

Soooo i weighed myself this morning since I have a doc appt tomorrow. I am 22 week 4 days. I have gained 14 pounds since my last appt at 18 weeks!!! This seems like a lot for that amount of time. Total weight gain 19. This is a shock to me. I would of never guess i gained that much. I can still hide the belly with certain shirts. I sure hope that scale is wrong and broken :) Have had a lot of tears today about it!! Anyone else have a big weight gain? I feel kinda down about it.

Ugh, I'm not looking forward to weighing myself at my next visit next week.  Each visit, I've only gained 4 lbs...but I have a feeling it'll be more this time around.  But I know this is the time in the pregnancy when baby's weight is exponentially getting bigger and bigger... trying to keep remembering that I am growing a life inside me and the weight is just a number.

  • I think all women are different.  I gained twenty pounnds my first 20 weeks and then at my last appt only gained a lb.  i have heard of women gaining it all at the beginning and then hardly gaining anything at the end.  I wouldn't worry about it.  19 lbs for 22 weeks doesn't seem like that much.  But I definitely know how you feel.  The weight gain is something I knew would happen but still having a hard time with it!

I'm up 25 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight! I love it in some respects. I know it means she's growing well and such, but it's like sticker shock at the same time!

  • I've noticed quite a few ladies saying around this time that they've gained quite a bit of 'unexpected weight'. I think babies in these weeks are growing so much that, even though we don't change our eating patterns, we're packing on the pounds. I'm at 24 weeks this week and in the last couple of weeks I jumped from a steady 12lb gain to 17. Your body is just doing what it needs to. The only thing you can do is eat healthy when you can and get in some moderate exercise regularly. Other than that, the number is going to go up....it kind of has to lol. Don't feel down. Everyone is different. What matters is that you and baby are healthy.

I went to the doctor today and found out that I have gained a total of 15 pounds. I only gained 7 pounds the first 5 months and 8 pounds in the past month.. Yikes but i know it is all for my baby.

  • I have my 24 week appointment tomorrow and I am terrified to hear the news.  My appetite has been on and POPPING for the last few weeks!

  • Don't forget about water weight. That water weight lead to a 3day 6 pound weight gain for me the other day.
  • I've gained 36 pounds total so far. I was so tiny, too, so it upsets me to see those numbers on the scale every time I see the dr. And then she reminds me that I'm having twins and it's completely okay. But still, I'm already excited to hit the gym as soon as I can!
  • I'm up 18 from Pre pregnancy weight, 6 lbs between my 16 and 20 week. I have focused on eating more healthy and definitely been more active since its finally warmer out but I just feel like I'm getting bigger and bigger. I'm 23w4d today.

a couple weeks ago I gained 7lbs in one week. I am having a really hard time with the weight thing too. I know the baby is good and healthy though. so that makes it easier. and dh is so incredibly supportive.

  • I think you sound pretty normal for total weight gain. Maybe a bit much in one short span between appointments, but total sounds normal.

I'm about to be 26 weeks and have gained 20 total...I'm just keeping an eye on it every few days.

  • I have gained 20. I was really upset about it...esp since I started at 113....I'm used to being small. I've let it go though....I'm making good healthy choices wiyh food with occasional splurges and the baby is healthy. I'll worry about the weight after!
  • I was up 8 at my last appt for a total of 20lbs

  • I think 19 lbs sounds pretty good overall. Sometimes it takes a bit of time before you really start gaining, you know? And I think the time around 20 weeks is when some women gain a lot due to baby growing. If you gain that much between your 22 and 26 week appt, then I might be concerned!

  • That was a big growth period for me too. I had gained 3lbs by 18w and then was up to 14 pounds by 24 weeks. It's slowed down since and I'm up a total of 15 pounds at 27 weeks.

  • Thanks everyone for the support! Its makes me feel a bit better :) ftm so kinda scary don't want to continue on this much weight gain. I love my lil one growing inside me hope the weight stays on him instead of me ;)
  • This makes me feel so much better! I was sitting steady at an 8 to 11 lb weight gain total up until my last appointment 20 weeks. I'm now 23 and a half weeks and hav suddenly gained close to 18lbs total in the past three weeks. I started panicking thinking that this baby will be huge, but hopefully this gaining tapers off a little as long as I keep eating healthy and exercising. Phew!
  • I freaked out at my appt. yesterday too. I was doing pretty well with a slow steady gain. Well as of yesterday I am up 16 lbs at 23 1/2 weeks! I'm already slightly overweight so this just makes me feel awful. But I don't feel like I'm eating straight crap, although my diet could use a little work. So I know my body is just doing as it should, but it's hard to let it go!

Best advice, this is why I don't step on the scale unless at the doctor's office...I am growing a baby weight is the last thing on my mind! Take care of yourself and your baby, healthy habits are a good start, stepping on the scale not so much.

  • I have gained 20 pounds I'm just about 23 weeks. Hoping to only gain 10 more but whatever lol if I gain another 20 so be it!!!!!!
