DH thinks its easy!!!(Vent)

So DH and I were talking about summer.  During summer months, I can switch my hours to 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM instead of 8:00AM-4:30 PM.  I love to get out of work an hour early.  DH works 8:30 PM to 5:00AM.  He said he will let the kids sleep as long as they want and get them ready for school/camp and that it is easy, no problem.  What?!  We have 4 kids ages 10 DD,4 DSD,3 DSD and 13 months DS.  I get them ready every morning and put them to sleep every night.  If he thinks it is so easy, he can do it every day!!  End vent

  • Change your hours before he can change his mind. =)

But to be honest, if I'm going to have the kids on my own I prefer mornings to afternoons. A couple years ago DH changed his hours so that he would be home earlier in the afternoons. I'd rather have him there for the homework/dinner stuff.

  • HA! DH always says he would trade with me (he travels for work). He changes his mind after each work trip I take. He calls me to ask the most absurd things, forgets things like packing lunches, skips some of the homework - three kids on his own is too much for him. Enjoy the summer!

I am sure he will decide after getting home from work at 5am, that it might suck to have to get the kids out the door.  lol  My H used to work the graveyard shift and he would be a zombie by the time he got him in the morning.

The parent that doesn't have to do it all the time never gets it, switch your hours and let him figure it out! I know I'd love to get off work an hour early in the summer!

I love that I have that option.  Sucky part is that with DH getting the kids to daycare/camp, I have to pick them up, so I am not really going to get home any earlier.  Good thing DH doesn't always work during the week.  He has a rotating 4 on 2 off 5 on 2 off schedule.  So at least a couple days I will get home early.

Let him at it. Maybe he'll surprise you! My DH and BM were so concerened the first time I had to get SD ready for preschool on my own I don't have bio children yet, had not previously spent a lot of time around young children, and do not have siblings. Frankly, it was a breeze granted that was only 1 child, and not 4! The point I'm make though, is that maybe he'll be just fine, and if not, he will learn quickly.
