Crib Help Please

My husband and I have been looking at baby cribs and we like the idea of having one that converts.  This will be our only child so we don't want to spend a ton of money on a crib that we will use only once so that is why we like the convertible ones.  My question is do convertibles work well?  Also where is the best place to buy a crib. I haven't been too impressed with the cribs at wal mart.  We live near Wichita, Kansas and have access to two baby's r us but no Pottery Barn or Ikea.  I do not want to buy a crib without first seeing it so I do not want to buy online.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Crib Help Please

  • Hi there. We got ours from Casa.com  same company as diapers.com

free shipping too. The brand I have is storkcraft and we loved it. I think they may sell this brand at Walmart.com too

let me know if you have more questions

  • In all honesty, I wouldn't buy a crib from Ikea because I have been to an Ikea store and it's not as awesome as they make it out to be online. I live in Wichita and I have seen good stuff come from Burlington Coat Factory, Target, Babies R Us, Sears has some nice baby things too, and there are many used kids clothing and furniture places. You just need to make a day of it and go look. I bought my daughter's stroller used from Love Grows on Douglas...very gently used. She doesn't have a lot, but what she does have is pretty good quality. Also there's another resale shop over by Sugar Sister's Bakery on Douglas. It's right before you go into downtown...I haven't been there, but I do know they have a lot of things, so it's worth checking out. Also if you don't know, for clothing, there is a Carter's Outlet store in Newton...I drop like $60 every time I go...I buy off the clearance racks and I get a ton of clothes! I spend like maybe $3 an outfit...so worth the drive out!

  • I have been to the Burlington Coat Factory on east side for maternity clothes and didn't have any luck.  Is the one on the west side better?  I got a great travel stroller and high chair from the consignment sale in Andover.  Also we got two good used bassinets.  I really don't mind spending money on a nice crib but I don't want to spend like a $1,000 on one and there are parents out there that do spend that kind of money.  Thanks for telling me about the Carter's outlet.  I drive by there often so I am going to have to stop by sometime.  Right now I am waiting until my baby shower is over so I know what I need.  I am due August 10th.  Thanks again for all your help.
  • We got a really good one @ Nebraska Furniture Mart for under $225 and it converts to a toddler bed and a full sized bed.
  • I have a cherry wood crib that I'm trying to sell for 150 but can negotiate a price. Its not exactly what you described but if you're interested let me know. I live in Wichita ks so I'm not far from you
