I picked my hospital becuase they converted their entire maternity ward to more of a "birthing center" area - private LDR rooms (and private recovery rooms for the next day) - wireless monitors, shower/tub in every room, chairs, beds, and birthing balls (they have a couple, although they suggest you bring your own). I like that it has a birthing center feel, but is in a hospital with a level III NICU (just in case the worst happens).
If you're wondering about the specific one in AZ, I'd suggest looking at your local boards, they're not as busy, but you're more likely to find someone who is/has deliver(ing/ed) there.
I would have considered a birthing center after my super easy natural delivery first time around. Second time around I learned fetal monitoring is priceless.
I think a water birth or at least laboring in a tub sounds like it would be blissful though!! I haven't even checked out the hospitals in the Chandler/Gilbert area.
That looks really cool. I like the idea of it, but I'm more of a hospital delivery person.
One of the reasons why I switched OBs was so I could deliver at a specific hospital in our town. Luckily for me the birthing and postpartum suites are huge and really nice. They have a whirlpool bath and shower in all of the rooms and look more like hotel rooms that a hospital room. Going to be a lot different than the hospital we went to for DS.
