4 month old regression

I've seen several times on this board that the 4 month old time period is a very diffcult time period.  My 17 week old is going through this and has now started waking back up in the middle of the night which he hasn't done since 10 weeks old.  Why is this time period so difficult, what are they going through? I thought maybe teething, but I don't see or feel anything.  I'm not sure what to look for though.  Those that have been through this, how long does it last? And if it's teething, what more should I look for? (poop changes, white spots,etc) Also, do you have any remedies for teething pain?

    I have no idea, but just want to say I'm with you. My DS will be 4 months on Sunday. He'd been sleeping through the night or only waking up once for the last couple of months and in the last week he's been up every two hours! Also, during the day he easts more often, like every 2 or 2 and a half hours where before it was three.

    Since when he wakes in the night he's hungry I was wondering if it's a growth spurt. Or is this the dreaded four month wakeful?

    For those that have been there, how long did it last for you?
