Who's still nursing?

And how often?

My DD is still going strong with no signs of weaning,  she only nurses a little bit in the a.m but she immediately jams her hand down my shirt to feel me up when I get her out of her crib. Her interest starts to increase after nap time (at least 30 min.usually)and she is all over me at dinner time while MH cooks.  She used to keep me trapped on the couch while my son played around and sometimes on top of us, but apparently he's been too distracting for her lately.  She now takes my hand, leads me to my room and says "bed" while patting the mattress! LOL.  She will go down for the night without though.

My son only weaned at 2.5 bc I was pregnant and it KILLED my nipples. I made him go cold turkey one day and he was NOT happy about it.   So I was fine with DD going til around then, hopefully earlier (like now!) but it looks like Ill have to try some tactics to slow her back down to 1-2x a day. I know her eye teeth are coming in so I assume that has a lot to do with it.  I just want my body back! It's been almost five years!  What is your plan for weaning if you want to?

Re: Who's still nursing?

  • Just weaned a few weeks ago.    I felt like I was pretty much dried up anyways and DD was just using me as a pacifier, especially before bedtime, but she wasn't ready to let go on her own.  She still pretty much nursed to sleep and I was worried about the nighttime routine without it.  We did it cold turkey one day, with DH putting her to bed.  She asked to nurse a few times, there were some tears here and there, but after a few days she pretty much started waving us out of the room at night and putting herself to sleep.  I was amazed at how effortless the whole thing was.  If I had known that before, I might have done it sooner.  It's a huge relief to have a few months to myself before #2 arrives.  I don't know how Pear and some other moms managed to nurse the LOs in tandem.

Tandem nursing here! I thought it would be really tough, but it's actually not a problem nursing both kids. DD loves her special boobs as she calls them. I only nurse her in the morning and after dinner but she shows no signs of weaning. To be honest, I don't really have a plan for weaning her...I'm sort of going with the flow for now, although I'd really like to be done by around 2.

  • I complained about E still nursing last week but we went away this weekend and she didn't ask for it at all!! So since Friday she has nursed a total of 3 times but she has tried since coming home. She tries to nurse as soon as she wakes up and right after dinner. I'm hoping to be done here in the next few weeks so I can have my boobs back and get some new bras! How long before my boobs become their new deflated size?

  • DD is more attached to nursing now than ever!
  • DS is still nursing. We basically only do it after work and then before bed. He doesn't seem to want it in the morning (he just wants applesauce ha ha). He shows no signs of weaning either. In fact, summer is kind of annoying becuase I wear tank tops or whatever and I think my boobs are more on his mind so he is starting to ask to nurse all the time lol.

  • Still going strong here. He nurses the most at night. Yep, that means he's still not sttn. He's never been attached to a paci or blanket so looks like I'm his go to for comfort. Doesn't bother me although I would like him to go to sleep for someone else without screaming for hours.

Having just weaned a month ago, I can tell you it doesn't take long for pancake sadsies to form. I say about a week.

Ugh...mine have NOT shrunk.  I am hoping by losing 5 or so more pounds they go with it.  I was already a 34D before pregnancy.

I thought we were pretty much done a while ago.  I've never had a plan, just following her cues (although I did start limiting her when my supply was clearly dipping and she was just getting frustrated).  The week we moved, she nursed a total of 2 or 3 times.  There was so much going on that I think she just kind of forgot about it.  I figured that meant the beginning of the end, and I was both relieved (it was so easy! and a few months of having my boobs back before #2 arrives) and sad (gonna miss the cuddle time).  But the next week she was back to asking every day.  Most days it's just once (first thing in the morning), but occasionally she asks again after nap.  I'm very torn on whether to try to force her to wean or not.  Maybe at the beginning of summer when DH is off work and can help distract her?
