Lydia's birthday party is on Saturday. I've been going back and forth about doing goody bags or just skipping them. I usually do them but always worry they're lame. The toys are cheap crap but I always put a couple in, a few pieces of candy, stickers. That's about it. I'm thinking about getting a bag of assorted colors of latex balloons and have the party store fill them up with helium to hand out to the kids before they leave the party. My kids LOVE balloons. My babies will be the littlest ones at the party, the other kids will be between 2.5 and 5 years old. What do you think? Do your kids like balloons? What would you think if they got a balloon at the end of a party? Should I just stick to goody bags?
Re: Birthday party help
I always love creative party favors or yummy ones over junky toys. The balloon would be a winner with my son....unless it floated away on the way to the car
Yeah, I kinda worried about the kids loosing them in the parking lot. I could get some sort of heavy toy to tie to the end of each one. Then they'd get a cool balloon and a little toy.
I think it'd be great if Lydia got something like this after a party! And there's a yogurt place nearby. I'll definitely keep this in mind. Thanks!
Thats a great idea! I'm going to keep that in mind for sure!
I would much rather take home just a balloon rather than the bag, as a parent.
My niece did those large tube looking thing of bubbles and that was a good idea we will steal in the future.
See, I'm not a huge fan of bubbles. I'll blow bubbles for the kids in the backyard but they end up a sticky mess after. Every inch of exposed skin is sticky with pieces of grass. Ugh!
What's your theme? I usually try to get a favor to go along with the theme. It's usually edible or at least something the kid will want to hold onto. Example for my older sons basketball them party we are doing small gatorade bottles with a whistle attached as the favors for kids. GL!
This year for ds bday i just got sand buckets with a shovel and i put a box of chalk and a thing of no spill bubbles in it. And some annies fruit snacks and a few tattoos.
They came out to less then 5 dollars and the kids were playing with the bubbles and chalk before they left the party.
My kid doesn't quite get how to blow yet, so it's pretty clean since only the adults touch the bubbles.
If you hate bubbles, you might not like my next suggestion of tying a balloon to a can of playdough. I try to stick with a theme too. We've done gloves at a winter theme and crayons at a crayon theme so far. I think next will be capes for a Super Why theme unless the love of super why fizzles by then.
This is what I would think too. I would stick with goody bags, especially given the ages of the kiddos that will be attending. I also usually send kids home with the balloons too but not as a 'favor', if that makes sense.

Same here, I always let the guests take a couple of balloons from the decoration when they leave
It would look way better if you use another cute item as a weight (themed cookies, bubbles, small themed toy...)
