Do we have to have a mod? DS's BMB didn't have a mod forever, then one day someone's name was at the top of the board. We'd never heard of the person, in fact she didn't even have any kids. She was getting married the same month we had our babies. I suspect she was chosen as the mod of marriage month board.

We can always page a mod from another board if we need help. Just a thought....in case no one wants to be the mod.

No, you don't need a mod. Yes you can page one. Honestly, with A&A hopefully gone, this board won't need a mod. There's not 300 members and a ton of drama to need modding.  

That's kind of what I was thinking. USUALLY BMB's are pretty mundane. :]. Hopefully this one will go back to being that way. LOL!

Ah yes, I guess I didn't think about them continuing to troll around. Hopefully they'll stop coming around.

I don't think we'll ever get rid of them unfortunately. They thrive on drama and that's what they create here.

I agree that I don't think we necessarily need a mod, but would much rather have someone we know and have chosen as mod rather than having the bump gods assign one to the board.

I guess this brings up a good question then for the mods who are hopefully lurking this thread. Does the bump typically just assign a moderator to a board? I'm sure the one on DS's BMB was merely an error, and she was actually supposed to be assigned as the mod of the November knot board (she did end up being the mod of that board as well). I am inclined to think the bump usually doesn't randomly assign mods, but I could certainly be wrong.

If we want to self-mod and page mods if things go crazy again, then we should all commit to not answer when the trolls "bait"us. If we leave their posts unanswered, they will get tired and leave.

Lol, this is the reason I think a mod might be in order So, it sounds like some people would like a mod and some would prefer not to have a mod. How about this as a compromise? We vote on the names below, but include a "no mod" option. If the "no mod" option wins, then we can always just revisit the idea of having electing a mod later on if it becomes necessary. Sound ok?

Whew, just now catching up on this post! I think I better take my name out of the running, but I am so flattered to even be considered for the list! That made my day, Sigir! I just have no idea what being a mod entails, and I'm not sure I would be any good at it.

oops, just saw my name too. I am thankful that I am considered sane enough to moderate, but I am very busy alone with DD and finishing my dissertation before September. I support the other nominations. Any volunteers?
