Hypnobirthing

Any good websites for information on it? I'd like to study it up (not pregnant yet, but we're working on it =P).

Thanks!

  • I've been doing Blissborn and love it.  VERY comprehensive and interesting and the kit is fantastic.  It's a little on the pricey side but worth it, IMO.

Another one I've been doing that's also great, just not *quite* as comprehensive but would still give you a great hypnobirthing experience is GentleBirth.  It's also a lot more affordable (at $99 it's the most affordable I've been able to find).

Whatever course you end up choosing, I think you will find it very rewarding.  Birth Hypnosis has given me a lot of confidence this pregnancy and has really helped me sleep better!  :)

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.

To add on to the question: would you take hypnobirthing in addition to a "normal" birthing class or in place of? Would it be redundant to do both hypnobabies and a Bradley method class?

You should not take Hypnobabies with anything else. The philosophies would clash completely. There is even a section in the Hypnobabies workbook that explains this.

I had great luck with hypnobirthing.  You can get Marie Mongan's book from the library to see what it is about, but the classes go into more depth.  Although the CD that is attached to the book, isn't the official one that you get as part of the class. There is also a website.

  • We loved the Marie Mongan Hypnoborthing class and I basically slept thru labor at home till I was 7 1/2 cm at which point I was still comfy but wanted to see my doctor. Successful vbac and I still use the techniques and relaxation tracks to this day. Helped me sleep in those uncomfortable last weeks too :)
