I am making a flower bed. Do I remove the grass or just turn it over and put dirt on top? I was taking the grass out and throwing it away, but a friend said she just turns it over. Won't the roots get in the way?
I guess it depends on how deep you're digging, and if you're going to put plants in that are from big containers or not. Starting from seed or smaller potted starters it wouldn't be too hard to work around the roots. But I think I'd dig out the grass and throw it away to be sure none of it would came back and invade the flower bed. Enjoy!

I have read two ideas about this. One, you can put cardboard down in the fall and over the winter it will kill your grass and the cardboard will compost itself so that way in the spring you will be all set to plant. I also heard you can do this in the spring with newspaper.
But, we used a rototiller and put the grass in yard waste bags.
