S/O food shame

Are you the kind of person who buys shameful food regularly, but are able to moderate how much of it you eat? Or are you terrible at moderating but good at resisting the temptation to buy it in the first place? Or neither, or both?

For me, if I get a shame food, I basically go whole-hog and inhale it all in a day. My saving grace is, I'm pretty good about not buying crap. I do go through phases, like, I won't have fast food for a year but then I get on a Taco Bell kick and I have it 6 times in a month, but then I get sated and don't have any more for another year. Or, I buy a bag of Fritos Chili Cheese chips and eat them all in a day, but then I don't buy them again for 3 years.

  • I am horrible about moderating but really good about not buying crap food. If we have a bag of chips in the house I will eat them in a day or two. Same with fast food if I have it one night I will have it a couple times in a month. But will go months without any fast food after that. I try my hardest but sometimes my sweet tooth and cravings just win.

  • I have trouble moderating, so I avoid buying. If I do buy crap food, I eat it pretty quickly then feel guilty for buying it in the first place.

    I can avoid buying like the plague, but once its in my house I can't avoid it. I hate that part about myself. I love to bake, but I rarely do because I have very little control when it comes to baked goods.
  • I buy big quantities of junk at a time because I like to have some "treats" for myself at home for when I get the itch (just yesterday I took my mom to get onions at a store and spent 20 euros for stuff that was for 2/3 chocolate)

    Anyhow I'm good at holding myself, I usually just get one piece of junk at day.. or 2 if I don't get out of the house and I'm bored  =)

  • I get like a stoner with the munchies around crap food so we dont buy it much.
  • I am horrible about moderation if the food is in our house so we rarely have junk food in our house. Cake, cupcakes, brownies, cookies really only enter our house on special occasions. If I feel like junk food I almost always buy a single serving of whatever it is and share it with the kids. I do keep chips/pretzels for DH'S lunch box, but I can stay away from those.

  • I moderate well with candy, not so well with chips. Dh and I polished off a bag of lays in two days this weekend. Oops. Lol. 

    I mostly try to keep healthier versions of crappy food on hand that will meet my cravings. Like every woman in existence I crave salt and sugar. I mostly meet my salt craving by homemade sweet potato fries or homemade popcorn. For sugar I use Nutella. It's high in sugar but a little goes a long way. I mix a teaspoon with a tablespoon of peanut butter and dip banana slices in it, or put a thin layer on toast and add strawberries.

  • Totally used to be bad about moderation AND buying bad foods, which is why I needed to lose 50 pounds ;)  Now that I'm in the groove and down 30 pounds, I'm really good about moderating my junk.  I love a daily small treat, so I don't resist buying.

  • I think of myself as no control, but I do buy a gallon of ice cream about every 2 weeks and have a bowl 2-3 nights a week. We usually have chips in the house that is just not my thing. If I am craving something, I have it 1-2x a day until it is gone.
  • I typically don't buy junk.  If I do (and usually it comes in the form of chips :) ) I'm good about only eating a single serving.  However, that means I have to pre-portion it out when I'm eating it.  I never eat from the bag.  

    I'm pretty intentional about eating and my purchasing habits.

  • I get on a kick, so I can go years without the salad bar, but if somebody gets me there once, I need it again. LOL 
  • I have no control. I'm an all or nothing person. If I buy a bag of cookies, they're gone in a day. If I run thru Jack in the box once for tacos, I go every day for a week.

    If I stay away from fast food or junk, I'm fine. But I just can't moderate it well enough sometimes. This is why I stopped drinking soda. If I have diet coke  in the house it's ALL I will drink. All.day.long. 

    I'm craving it right now and my parents brought some to MIL's Memorial Day cookout on Saturday and sent a 12 pack home with us. I drank the last one yesterday.

  • I have no self control, so I don't buy it. If I want it, that means I have to go out and get.

    When I do buy it, I'll demolish it off in 2 days by myself. My weakness is sweets. I always feel guilty afterwards, so I won't buy any sweets for like a month or 2.

  • HORRIBLE at moderation but usally good about not buying crap. We buy very healthy whole foods but every once in awhile we will buy something like TJ's peanut butter cups and I will inhale them in no time! We just try to make it a vry rear treat since I know I have no self control if they in the house. 

    I have a thing of caramels to melt down for these cookie bars I'm making for DS's B-day party and I'm having the hardest time keeping my hands off them...like I'm about to have DH hide them!

  • I am terrible about eating in moderation.  Typically I avoid keeping crap in the house because I will not stop eating it if it is here.  Right now we have leftover cupcakes and chips from DD's Baptism and I have eaten way too many of both in the last 2 days.
