So summer is almost upon us and I can't wait! Minus the mosquitoes and ticks... My pediatrician recommended any bug spray that had less than 10% of DEET. However, I am still nervous to spray these kind of chemicals on my baby. What kind of bug spray works for your LO? Also, any other ideas to prevent bites that may not involve spray?
Thank you for the suggestions!
Re: What do you to prevent bug bites?
We really like this one:

We've been using Bugslock bands. They're a felt band that has a citronella repellent on them. LO is wearing one around his arm in my siggy pic. We've only used them a few times and so far they seem to keep the mosquitos away. I guess they'll really be tested when we head up North to the lake where the bugs are really bad.

This. I'm very chem cautious. I have to apply his chem free sunscreen every 40 minutes. However, west Nile was BAD last year so we'll have to use a product with deet. I get upset every time I have to put it on either of us.
There are lots of ways to make your own with oils. There are also all natural sprays you can get at most stores. I think Burt's Bees has one.
We use vanilla, and it works really well. You have to dilute it (or buy the kind that's already diluted).
I just asked our pedi this last week, and she said to try the clip ons, or to just try spraying LO's clothes before putting them on...if theyre' really bad she said to put on skin, but avoid putting it on the skin. I should say she said it was okay now that he's 18 months.
I may get some skin so soft from avon though and try that with a clip on.
