DS got an IPad at his Dads house for his birthday. I was pretty against it at first because that is a very extravagant gift for a six year old. However, I have seen the kids playing with it and they really do have fun with the Apps. DD showed me how to color and bake cupcakes on it.
Now I'm toying with the idea of getting a cheaper tablet that I can download apps on for them to use on rainy days or car rides. I'm clueless about electronics and what is good and what sucks. I was thinking maybe a kindle fire, as I also like to read and it would be good for that.
Anyone here have any good recs? Or a link to a site that compares different ones.
Re: NBFR, tablets
I threw a fit about SD getting a tablet against my wishes from the grandparents for Christmas. Turned out that it had to be returned anyway. Now we are looking at getting her a Zeepad or something when we get internet at home hopefully later this year. I am terrified of her having unsupervised internet access. Kids are sneaky and DH isn't on the same page as me as far as tech safety goes. But as long as I can put parental controls on it, such as the internet not being able to be opened without a password, the device.not being able to be accessed without a passowrd unknown to SD, etc, I think I am ok with it now.
We were looking at the Nabi? I think is what it is called. A tablet specifically for kids. I know many parents who say their kids LOVE it. But SD says she does not want one. Since it is about 200, I will let her have the say on that. We will just get something cheaper.
