Interview ?

DH and I are trying to relocate to another state which is a 12 hour drive or a 400 dollar flight. I applied for a position that I am very interested in and they emailed and asked when I would be in town next as they would like to interview me, she also mentioned if it went well they would want to bring me in for a second interview. I emailed her and asked if an initial interview over skype would be possible and that I would be happy to come in person for the second interview, or I could plan to stay in town to try to accomodate both interviews if it worked with their time frame. I also mentioned if neither of these were an option, I was very interested in the position and would make the travel arrangements work. Does this sound reasonable or did I make a mistake?

Re: Interview ?

  • I'm a teacher and I know things are done very different in education compared to corporate world, but I think what you did is totally expectable

  • You gave them some options, all of which are reasonable. I think the way you handled it was fine.

  • It sounds fine to me.  I have several friends who either skype or go to video conference centers for interviews.  Also, many companies will fly you in.  I had a candidate who was trying to find a job to move closer to his finance and I flew him in.
