Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When did your LO go to one nap?

Just curious. My 13 month old's morning nap seems to be getting later and then he either wants to nap again late or bedtime is earlier, making the next day's wake up earlier. If you are on one nap, when did that start?

Re: When did your LO go to one nap?

  • We went from one morning and one afternoon nap to just one nap, usually in the late morning (like 10:30 or 11:00) around 11 months. She sleeps at least 2 hours, I find it a lot more convenient than the two shorter naps she was having before!

  • LO transitioned herself around 10 months. She quit taking a nap in the afternoon so I asked her day care staff to push back her 1st nap and ever since they she's on a one nap a day schedule.
  • My LO went down to one nap around 11 months.  I wake her up around 7 in the morning and she goes down for a nap around 12:30 pm. She usually takes a two hour nap.  Her bedtime is 7:30 at night so she is a wake for a little over 5 hours at a time.

10 or 11 months. I can't remember for sure which one, but I know it was before he was a year. He goes down sometime between 11 and noon and will sleep for about two hours. DS started to either refuse his afternoon nap, or he would refuse to go to bed. Once we dropped a nap, bedtime has been sooooo much better!!!

  • Right around 13 months, but he still occasionally will do two if he got up super early or if he had/is having a particularly active day or weekend.
  • 12.5 months, the transition was short and easy.

  • DS went to one nap at 9 months (due to DC) which seems really early compared to the rest of these responses....

Around 13 months.  We moved over the holidays and everything kind of went haywire with travel and time changes, and by the time we settled down he was down to one nap most of the time.  With DD it was a lot earlier, like 8-9 months I think.

  • DD was late to the one nap party and switched over at around 20 months. She was still taking a long am nap and i noticed the pm nap getting shorter. Because that was the nap I wanted to keep, we just cut out the am one cold turkey. I told our sitter and she said, "oh! She's been doing one nap here for weeks and is fine!" Oops!

  • He was still very comfortable taking two naps a day (he was on a 2-3-4 schedule) at 15 months, and then I went back to work. His daycare provider has the toddler room on a one nap schedule. After a few exhausted weeks, he seems like he has adjusted. Had I continued staying home with him, he probably would have stayed with two naps for a few more months.
