Feeling The Baby?

Just curious to know from you ladies who've had kids before...

I'm at 16 weeks today and the past 2 weeks i've been feeling more frequent odd feelings in my abdomen...mostly when i'm laying down at night, i'll feel what almost seems like a muscle twinge with tiny ripples.  At first it was very infrequent and I chalked it up to just normal growing pains.  But now it seems to happen every few nights and last night we were laying watching a show and my DH's hands were around me on my belly and he said he felt it too!  I didn't have gas (and it's very obviously different from my gas grumblings which tend to be very audible and obvious), hadn't eaten anything recently, etc that'd make me think maybe it was just digestion...but i'm not sure.  I'm a FTM, but have a very low pain tolerance and can always seem to feel things coming on...is it possible i'm actually feeling the baby at this point already?  Or is it probably still just muscle twinges, growth pains, or gas?  I'm not really sure it feels like "butterflies", but I never really understood what that was supposed to feel like in the first place...more like twinges and ripples?

This is my first baby. I'm 16w2d and I've felt little tiny kicks in the last few days, but only when I'm laying down. Yours are probably kicks and movement too!
  • 2nd time mother. My twinges started at 13 weeks thus time. It felt like blatant turns for me in my lower abdomen. It has now progressed to larger movement throughout the day whether I'm sitting or lying down and lite kicks.

I never felt butterflies but I did have muscle twinges and popcorn popping sensation when baby moved.

As its your first baby you're not going to know what baby feels like until 20 weeks when it's bones have hardened more and you're getting harder kicks. What you have des described does sound like baby.

Next time you feel those tiny movement at night, lift your top up and rub your belly to see if you see movement under your skin. If you do, that is the baby xxxx

See..I saw my stomach move..not like oh the baby is kicking and punching me..but it looked like it was floating to a new spot..and my mom saw it too and put her hand there..I'm 14 weeks..and like I said I know it wasn't really a kick or punch..and it wasn't gas..lol. Think I've felt some 'flutters' too but I'm like you OP when it comes to the 'flutters' term..lol..that wasn't gas either..

I'll be 18 weeks on Friday and I still have yet to feel any of these "flutters" or "butterflies" I keep seeing women talk about on here  Sad  This is our first so I'm just really anxious to feel the baby move/kick.
  • Don't worry. This is my 3rd and I'm 17 wks and still haven't felt anything. They say anytime between 1821 wks is "normal".

Hoping we both feel our little ones soon! I can't wait :
