Anxiety much?

I wrote a post a few days back about experiencing a fluttering sensation in my chest and wondering whether it was my heart and if so, whether if perhaps-like so many other sudden symptoms-it was related to being this far along in pregnancy. Well, I have noticed it only happens at night and only when I'm laying down. If I stack pillows up to sitting position, I sleep just fine. (Discovered this after getting a combined 6 hrs of sleep in 2 days, and got 10 hours of uninterrupted blissful sleep last night.) Talked to my twin sister and apparently, in both of her pregnancies, right around her 37 week mark, this happened to her too. I thought I was going nuts. She thinks it's anxiety. Anyone going through pre-labor/delivery anxiety? It seems I don't even have to be thinking about it, but I'm wondering if there's a subconscious trigger that sets off these attacks.

Re: Anxiety much?

  • You have to really try to clear your mind. Meditation can be very helpful. I meditate at night before bed when I am overly worried about certain aspects of pregnancy and delivery. If it is to the point where the anxiety is unmanageable, you really should see a professional.

  • I have the same issue only at night.
  • It seems even if I clear my mind or am not thinking about much in particular it is still happening. I will have to talk to my doctor and see if there's anything that can be done about this. It's getting old fast.

  • I've been having some issues with feeling anxious but no anxiety attacks thankfully. It seems to be getting worse as my due date gets closer. I think it's a manifestation of my desire to control everything...
