    Thanks for asking!
I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what. But it's going great. The first night she cried for 20 minutes, the 2nd and 3rd nights she just went to sleep. For her naps, she's been fussing for less than 5 minutes and sleeping for 1 or 2 hours. We even went OOT yesterday and MH rocked her for 5 minutes, put her in the PNP and she slept for 2 hours. Sleeping away from home has been a huge struggle for us.
So either I'm doing it wrong, or she really needed this.
She has been waking up multiple times overnight. But she just fusses from 1 to 15 minutes. Fussing, not crying, then falls back asleep. Is that ok or normal?

  • That is great, TJ!  What was E like before?

It's perfectly normal for E to put herself back to sleep MOTN without any intervention from your part - that is the goal of sleep training.

Before she nursed to sleep, woke zero to two times, and nursed usually once overnight. Naps haven't been bad, but they have required nursing to sleep and never lasted that long.
Sleeping away from home has been our biggest struggle. The nap yesterday was really encouraging. We are going OOT for the weekend in 2 weeks so we will see how it goes.
I know the point of sleep training is getting her to fall back asleep on her own. But what I meant to ask was if it was normal that she woke up several, like 5 or 6, times and fussed as opposed to her old habit of 2 or less wake ups.

Thanks mg. although perhaps I spoke too soon. It has not gone well today with the napping. Sigh. Hopefully tonight isn't too bad.

  • Wow it sounds like it's going great! Sleep training is so rewarding especially when it makes you realize that baby and mommy were ready for it. Enjoy your sleep mama!

  • I'm glad things seem to be going on even if there was a set back with the naps!  I agree that the fussing during the MOTN should get better as she gets more used to the sleep training.
